about us

Did you know that church just means gathering?

Christians have been gathering in Whitehouse to love one another, serve their community, and worship God together since 1867.

We are ordinary people at all stages of life, with a diverse range of ages, from many different backgrounds, but we gather together to worship our extraordinary God.

We are united together in our common desire to put God first in our lives, and to share His love with those who do not yet know Him.

We want to be shaped by the wisdom of the Bible, which we understand is God’s Word. The central message of the Bible is that God has revealed himself to us, through his Son, Jesus Christ.

We believe in the free gift of grace, of forgiveness and new life, which was achieved through the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

So why not gather with us on Sunday at 11am, and explore just how amazing God’s grace is!

what is a presbyterian?

As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, our church is led by a team of ELDERS ('Presbyterian' just means 'elder-led'), locally elected ruling elders, and a minister (the teaching elder). Collectively they meet as a Kirk Session.

The elders give spiritual leadership to the congregation. They make prayerful decisions over the congregation's priorities, oversee its various programmes and activities, ensure pastoral care is provided to the members of the congregation, have responsibility for the Sacraments (Baptism and Communion), and take leadership in serving both the church family and the local community.

One helpful picture the Bible uses to describe an elder in the church of Jesus Christ, is that of a shepherd (or under-shepherd, under Jesus' authority), pastoring for the local flock (see 1 Peter 5:1-4).
